I was looking for a super long time to stream my entire library of over 17,000 songs to my phone while on the road or share it to friends simply and easly and a few weeks ago I came acrossed this super low processer speed way of hosting all your music. It is call Sockso Taking from their website: Sockso is a free, open-source, personal music host server for everyone! It's designed to be as simple as possible so that anyone with a mouse and some mp3's can get their friends listening to their music across the internet in seconds!
Download and open Sockso
Add music Folders
Then after then got to your router and do a Portforward. Don't buy any thing on that website just pull up your router and click on default guide, follow step-by-step.
I use port 5050
Then restart Modem, Router and Computer that is super important and missing from their guide .
Then open Sockso, and on the bottom of the program you will see the exact address of your Sockso server on your local machine( computer), (make sure to click on it and have it open a new webpage) after that is successful
Then go to users and add account, Fill out all parts of new user, then again go to server and make sure log in works. That's it ..... sharing is caring!!.............
One last thing that I did was add Program to autostart menu. It takes about 15 seconds to load after ever restart because if program is not running of course the web portion will not work. I have had friends in three different states test it and every one says wow it works awesome, And I have used it to stream music to my phone over 3G with no problem.
